  1. Between 8PM and 5AM~~5PM~~ there is a expanded ban on weapons at the central station. It allows more controls.

  2. German law is complicated. The police always needs a reason to search someone. The „Waffenverbotszone“ allows the police to make general inspections of people.

  3. Stupid sign. It implies that those weapons are perfectly legal between 5am and 8pm. They are not. Edit: some of them are not.

  4. After 5 you are allowed to bring guns and knives

  5. My personal opinion is that it allows greater use of police powers to search. Essentially allowing police search people who look suspicious on the basis of believing they are carrying a weapon.

The sign is just to alert people and give a pretext.

  6. Welcome to Germany. It is illegal to carry weapons in general. However, German law provides a lot of protections for citizens/residents – such as a protection against unwarranted searches of ones person.

This sign, although on the face of it being seemingly idiotic given that weapons are already not allowed, simply bestows additional rights to police while simultaneously limiting the protections for citizens that are generally in place.

Not that we could say that outright. Then the sign would have to read “People are subject to additional searches from 8 to 5 and the reasons for conducting a search can be much more vague.”

  7. You aren’t allowed to carry forbidden weapons that you aren’t allowed to possess. But only at a certain time of day, on the rest of the day they are only illegal.

    /s

  8. Please read between the lines – But swords, sabres, pikes, axes and bows are welcome.

  9. It is basically an excellent symbolism of the uselessness of the german institutions. The area around Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof is probably the biggest disgrace I can think of as a German. And unfortunately, nothing is done except blaming minorites.

  10. In essence all weapons depicted are already banned and now for the specific time also your butter knife can get you in trouble welcome in Germany 2024

  11. It is a joke. Please only murder people between 5AM and 8 PM, but not between 8PM and 5AM.

  12. damn i was hoping i could bring my glock with me to frankfurt but apparently i can not.

  13. It means that anyone can be searched at will during that time. The weapons are just the excuse to justify the search. No one expects any criminal to be deferred by that sign.

If you put up posters “anyone can be searched at will between 20 and 5” it would have sparked a giant outrage.

  14. You’re not allowed to carry knives, pepper spray or guns during that time. It’s not generally illegal to have a knife or pepper/cs spray and you can get permits for guns.

  15. That nails it pretty well… don’t get out there at night. It’s the worst place (in Germany) I’ve ever been.

  16. It gives the police the right to stop and search randomly, as this rule also now needs to be enforced.

Without this rule they would need due reason to search a person for weapons or illegal items.

  17. It is literally written there.

But the pictures’ deeper meaning are:

    Sam is banned.

    Igor is banned.

    Barry, 63, is banned.

    Icecone machines are banned..

  18. The Police can just legally stop you and control you during this time.

  19. If you want to beat someone up, do it during working hours like the rest of us.

  20. It means that Germany has failed to guarantee the safety of its inhabitants. So they come up with ridiculous stuff like this. Cause every German knows: we have no murder here, since it’s forbidden!

  21. I don’t get the knuckleduster though, It’s a completely illegal object in Germany. The mere suggestion that it might be ok to carry them before 20:00 is very confusing.

  22. If you want to shoot or stab someone there, you have to do it in the afternoon.

  23. 3 things.
The first thing: you aren’t allowed to bring anything that can be used as a weapon here from dusk till dawn.
Second thing: the people who think this is preventing any crime are beyond stupid.
Third thing: it breaks the necks of normal people like craftsmen going to work and bringing tools. Because that’s a crime now if the police officer has a bad day.

  24. you know, I always heard about Frankfurt Hbf and its surrounding area being this lawless wasteland/warzone where any kind of crime will happen at any time, yet I’ve never witnessed or known anyone who witnessed anything of the kind, particularly not of the magnitude discussed. Admittedly, I live in a nearby city, not Frankfurt itself, so maybe news hasn’t trickled out of town, but still, I get this really weird disconnect everytime I encounter stuff like this. Is it just hatred of non-whites? This is basically what it comes across as.

  25. Thats when a country tries to enforce their law in a pathetic way

  26. This means, handling guns during daylight is no prob at the FFK HBF /s

  27. it means you should only carry your pistol between 5:01 a. m. and 7:59p.m

  28. It means we are no longer a safe society because this wasn’t needed prior to 2016. It also means we rather bother citizens than to control our border or handle our illegal immigration problem.
