  1. The authorities in Jakarta are very interested in developing ties with Moscow. According to the chosen foreign policy, based on the principle of non-alignment, Indonesia needs to maintain contacts with all powers. Particular attention is paid to those who have the greatest weight in the international arena.

    For Jakarta, developing defense cooperation with Moscow is a way to maintain balance in foreign policy. Incidentally, at the same time as the Orruda 2024 exercises, the Indonesian military is training with another important defense partner, Australia.

    Jakarta is seeking to cooperate with all major powers, and not just with the Russian Federation. Moscow is taking advantage of the opportune moment and laying the foundation for further defense partnership.
