Not sure if this is a regional thing, but I met more old people playing Romme instead.
Not very much… mostly in old peoples homes. And there Are no regional differences
At my MIL
In the kanasta-amt
I used to play it with my mother and sister when we were on vacation as a kid. I don’t think it’s a regional thing.
It‘s not regional. Why would it be?
Everywhere, really. I’ve played Canasta with people from all over Germany. Everyone was playing with slightly different rulesets, so we had to find common ground first (kinda like with UNO etc) but it isn’t limited to certain areas of Germany. And not age either, tbh.
Some cities have card playing clubs, maybe you can check those out if your city has some, but most rounds are just private get togethers of friend groups
I used to play Canasta with my grandparents at home, I’ve never ever played it in Germany.
I play it sometimes with my gf, who plays it with her family
This is a Skat and Doppelkopf country! Change my mind.
We played such card games on vacation at a camping place in Italy, because you were not allowed to play radio or tv without headphones and besides it’s nice to share a nice summer evening with friends, two bottles of wine and some board or card game.
I have encountered it in different regions. Sometimes under other names or with different minor rules.
I am pretty sure the biggest card game in Germany is Skat, and I am absolute garbage at itm
I grew up playing it with family (Düsseldorf)
I used to play it with my grandparents.
In retirement-homes. The game was popular 40-60 years ago
