“Sadly, as a result, some colleagues will be leaving the business this week”
Interesting way to say you are making almost 500 people redundant just before Christmas.
Ghouls who have no knowledge of the impact on the work this will have.
Also same old detached from reality bullshit of – come back to the offices for a fast paced collaborative experience.
Which we all knows means, we don’t trust you and we don’t care about how your life is better by not being there. Not even mentioning how if you have childcare or other needs or disabilities how it totally ignores and discriminates.
Stuart rose is slashing costs and payroll is a big cost. I am sure there are few people who aren’t doing their jobs.
But this is about making it appear next quarter that the numbers are going up. Even if morale and customer experience is going through the floor.
These venture capitalists destroy businesses .. price by price, piece by piece.
And so they will go to the next victim like vampires.
>The email said: “We have rightly taken the decision to invest in our stores, focus on improved availability, enhanced customer experience, alongside a stronger trade plan. We must now deliver a more flexible and fast-moving Home Office structure to support those priorities and put us firmly back in the service of our customers.
>”As part of this process, we are redefining roles and accountabilities to remove duplication and simplify structures. We need colleagues to be more empowered in their decision making as we deliver for customers. Additionally, we want you to have more fulfilling roles and feel supported in your career development.”
>To “drive these priorities, the email said Asda was delivering “fewer bigger roles, clear accountabilities and ownership, simplified ways of working, using new technology, and effective processes and cross-functional touch points.” However, Rose and Hattrell confirmed this meant staff were going to have to leave the business”.
>The email read: “Sadly, as a result, some colleagues will be leaving the business this week, whilst others will be considering new roles and responsibilities. Change is never easy and is unsettling, but the Executive Team believe it is necessary to enter 2025 in a stronger position, fully focused on serving our customers, delivering our ambitions and driving long-term growth. We want to place on record our thanks to all those colleagues who are leaving us this week, as well as those remaining as we move forwards.”
This is Walmart with a different name. Don’t expect American firms to care… Look what they did to their government lol
Hmmmmmm the stench of management consultants all over that email.

The store I left in Feb was already barebones.
Nice one Labour – really driving business growth
Asda is already running on a skeleton staff. They can’t cut much more. There’s already nothing on the shelves and massive waits if you need help at the self service tills.
Interesting that this has come after Labour’s Budget announcement.
Title is poorly worded. This isn’t the email in which staff were sacked. This is the comms that went out afterwards.
Well, that is a shitty website.
Could it be that the employees mostly effected are those who previously wouldn’t have been working enough to trigger employer national insurance?
