Caught in the crossfire: FRANCE 24 speaks to the family of a fallen Lebanese soldier • FRANCE 24

As Israel and Hezbollah are at war, UN peacekeepers and Lebanese Army soldiers have been caught in the crossfire. 4,000 Lebanese soldiers, often powerless observers, are deployed in the south. At least 11 of them have been killed. FRANCE 24’s Achraf Abid and Johan Bodin met the family of one of these fallen soldiers: Mohammed Farhat, a Shia Muslim from southern Lebanon, killed 10 days ago. His family has been sheltering with his best friend, a Christian in northern Lebanon.

  1. There is no such thing as the Lebanese Army. Neither is there a UNIFIL. Neither can do their jobs if Lebanon is under the thumb of Hezbollah/Iran. If they cannot perform their job they may as well not exist. His job like his death was meaningless.

  2. israel: "we only taget terrorists (with no proof)", every independent observer " they killed children, lebanese army, hospitals, churches, mosques, schools, journalists, aid workers.. and here are all the proofs.", Western leaders "we believe israel"
