Yea. But gas cars are the future
Nice. Let’s prohibit the import of Chinese EVs on bogus reasons, that will do much good for European EV innovation,
i just wait for someone to comment how “electric cars are not the solution for my country, because they cost 40,000 euros !!!!!”
**brother, half of Chinese EVs cost less than 20k euros, among Indian EVs there are models as low as 11k euros**
the European car industry has totally failed
China is going to reach 50% EV share this year
BYD sold 500,000 electric+plugin hybrids last month
once BYD reaches 800,000 sales a month, they become the biggest car company in the world.
**It’s over**
fuck the CCP, authoritarian scum and genocider of Uyghurs, but the Chinese EV industry will destroy the European car industry, and we absolutely deserve it.
It’s their loss.
Dacia would have stopped them if they were in the chart.
Not arguing against here, but China is the worlds biggest car market and market for EVs so of course it’s going to skew China. Break it down by market and it’s not so bad. Yet.
So, european EV initiative has to be cancelled urgently. We need other more creative options to fight climate change without dismantling our economy.
So, what went wrong here? Is it the batteries? The price? The quality? Does China’s internal market skew things?
One thing that I’m absolutely thrilled about is that China’s 1.5 billion population will not experience the same level of gasoline motorization that Europe or America experienced in the last century. And this will be absolutely beneficial for the global climate as for geopolitics (taking away economic power form oil producing states such as Russia).
I’ve never heard of any of these aside from tesla
I’m still waiting for the European car manufacturers to wake up and start making electric cars
Sick of the lack of innovation from Europe tbh. We are lagging
as someone that drives a electric volkswagen: just get a tesla.
There is no chance for any of the western electric vehicles to compete with the Chinese. China’s market is half of the world for sales. Cost for Chinese cars is super cheap because of subsidies and their low prices for batteries. There is literally no chance for any western car to compete on price. Even with 100% tariffs, chienese cars will be cheaper. Companies would have to lower salaries drastically, but then we all cry again about that. They just can’t win. China will have the same problem in 50 years when they outsourced everything to Africa because their salaries have become too high.
For the first time in my life, I want a Chinese company to do better than a Western one. I can’t wait for them to flood the market, destroying that overpriced stock of the bigot Musk.
And European car companies don’t care, their efforts are not lifting the 2035 ban on petrol and diesel engines.
European car manufacturers were kicking and screaming to keep making cars with thermal engines, so the lack of competiveness is showing.
But let’s not act like if China didn’t have the “benefit” of being a dictatorship with a lot of resources to make batteries on top of investing a ton of money in it because those in power decided so.
Boycott Teslas and American products for the next 4 years
I think it’s a dishonest marketing trick to call PHEVs (a.k.a. hybrids) real EVs.
In the world? Maybe we should exclude China from the list, since …you know it’s not really a free/fair market.
No Korean or Japaneese companies either
Ayoo where is Xiaomi?
We are better than encouraging child labour
I’d argue this is less because of them being better cars or anything and more because of market size. The US and China have gotten EV systems faster and on a much bigger scale than Europe has, so naturally their EVs are top of the leaderboard because they drive electric the most.
Europe isn’t driving electric as much, but those that do don’t go for American cars. The few people I know that have EVs all have Dacia, Kia, etc. Not Tesla and definitely not Chinese. All we need to do is invest in the infrastructure and we’ll start catching up as European car makers start capitalizing on the expanding market.
What do the numbers look like if you remove the Chinese market (just the market, not the brands)? That would be far more telling than this.
I think we need to stimulate the European EV industry by putting tarifs on American EVs.
Bet against Tesla 🤣
This entire thread is a doomsday circle jerk again. Germany was often titled the sick man of Europe. We somehow will manage to get around this again, hopefully
Fuck the cars, we need better mass transit and bigger drones so we can have our flying cars for out of transit transportation.
Renault is coming out with some good competition but other than that it’s pretty abysmal for us, VAG’s EV offerings have been frankly, utter crap quality and price wise. And the only other brand that’s got it right is Porsche but they’re not making a car for regular people anytime soon.
Here is the thing, European cars are still much better quality than say Tesla, like far better. But for some reason, the European car industry refuses to look forward, innovate and take leaps. Instead opting for small incremental improvements like they have done for decades.
If only they would get on the ride, so we can get good quality electric cars.
Weird, skoda and volkswagen have built 100.000’s of Enyaq’s and id-series cars. I think that there is just no data on this chart on European brands?
Im not going to buy and Lithium EV, they better start making hydrogen cars, don’t care if combustion or FC
If I could afford one, I’d buy one but…
According to this statistics most of people love China and Elon Musk
Not sure it is relevant. For the past 15 years or so the Chinese had EV sales totalling €700 billion and more than €300 billion from that were subsidies. It’s almost like the state gifts you half the car. It’s nice if you are on the receiving end, but not sustainable.
Can we see the same chart but showing the regulations this time?
European electric car makers messed up big. First they were late to the game and second for example Chinese cars are much cheaper. And anyone who wants to pay more will most likely rather get a Tesla, where you can drive longer than with some other cars
The results are a bit skewed, many people.in china have never had the option of owning a car untill recently and as such there is a massive skew of first car owners in China which is a big population buying Chinese cars for obvious reasons.
Also let’s not forget about Chinese police who also buy Chinese EVs etc.
And another issue is many countries in Africa have better trade deals with china.
You might only be able to pick up a European car that was imported to a used car lot but a Chinese EVs you can get for same price and new direct from the dealership who set up there.
