I needed cheering up. Most of the points there are quite convincing.
It places more emphasis on states and other countries to make deeper emissions cuts. This could hurt the economies of developing nations. Even more crucial are the environmental impacts, including drilling in protected areas such as the Arctic.
The thing is that is expected for the US to lead this movement. It’s the most rich and powerful country in the world.
By the gods, I needed to hear this today.
One that’s not listed? The US is responsible for around 12% of global emissions. Even if we did absolutely nothing, the rest of the world could (and should) decarbonize without us.
