UK Conservatives pick Badenoch as new leader • FRANCE 24 English

The UK’s Conservative Party on Saturday elected Kemi Badenoch as its new leader as it seeks to rebound from a crushing election defeat that ended its 14-year rule. The 44-year-old London-born British Nigerian woman was the first Black woman to lead a major British political party, FRANCE 24’s Benedicte Paviot said, reporting from London.

  1. Curious to see how this british nigerian will try to personify all the xenophobia and racism that has been the Torries' brand for the last couple of decades

  2. She is a puppet who does not have a base or constituency within the Tory power structure. The Tory grandees will be running the show behind the scenes. Members of the 1922 committee have effectively hijacked the Conservative Party and are now the power behind the new leader. They will keep her on for the main time until the party has recovered and is strong enough to be a formidable opposition to the ruling Labor party.

Besides, she will be able to complement the government in the US if Kamala Harris wins the November 5th elections in the US. Two black women leading their parties and holding formidable political positions in the world.
