Howdy! I'm an American living in Norway, and struggle with the old style vacuums used here. I have arthritis, so the modern self propelling upright vacuums I'm used to are much easier and way more efficient at removing pet hair. The only ones I can find at stores here have such tiny canisters that you'd have to empty it several times to vacuum one room. Anyone know where to find one similar to this? Tusen takk!

Edit to add: Sorry I thought a link attached. Here's what I'm looking for – https://www.sharkclean.com/products/shark-navigator-lift-away-deluxe-upright-vacuum-zidNV360

But all I can find are the smaller ones like this – https://sharkclean.no/product/shark-stratos-tradloes-stoevsuger-med-handtak-clean-sense-iq-og-powerfins-plus-pet-pr-modell-enkelt-batteri-iz400eut-zidIZ400EUT

  1. Can you add a picture/link to what you’re looking for?

  2. “Old style vaccuums”?

I’m born and raised Norwegian, and I have a Dyson Gen 5 Detect…
Didn’t know Norway had any particular vaccuum “traditions”?

  3. I think we have a terminology problem, I don’t understand what type of vacuum cleaner you are talking about. Please elaborate, or name some models?

  4. I’ve seen those in American movies but never seen any for sale here. Wouldn’t they be quite heavy to handle as opposed to a regular vacuum? You just pull it after you instead of holding everything up.

The upright vacuums you find here are mostly for little debris, like under the kitchen table or by the kitchen counter, just small stuff. Not an entire room.

  5. I don’t think the style of vacuum you’re referring to has ever been a thing here. I inherited my grandma’s old vacuum 15 years ago, it was already 20 years old and looked like the same vacuums we have today.

Edit: Sorry, this is my only reference to old American vacuum cleaners, but is [this](https://i.pinimg.com/736x/58/a3/8a/58a38affe3b2c79368740548952567ec–hocus-pocus-cow.jpg) the sort of vacuum you’re talking about? It has never been a thing in Norway as far as I know.

Old style vacuums in Norway were more like [this](https://www.finn.no/bap/forsale/ad.html?finnkode=327311449&ci=5).

  6. Nilfisk has a brush head like you describe on several of their models, and a separate head can be bought for their models which doesn’t come with it as standard.

Their VU500 model is maybe most in line with what you’re thinking of, and is probably the best solution for someone with your condition.

  7. Why not just invest in a good robotic vacuum with vibrating mop, I haven’t vacuumed by hand in years.

My newest robot vacuum is the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra, it’s insanely good at cleaning and vacuuming.
And it has a big dustbin so I empty it like every 6 – 12 months.

  8. They’re not a thing here. The EU also added regulations for how much power vacuums can have and now they all kinda suck (or don’t suck enough, depending how you look at it). I too have been in search of a vacuum that’s able to manage carpets with pet hair. The best I have found so far is a broom that tractions the hairs and rolls them into a ball so I can vacuum them up. Annoying. Edit: to say that I think you can find Shark in the UK and some Amazon vendors will ship to Norway so worth a look maybe. Beware of the plugs though.

  9. You can buy my old school Kirby G2000.
Yes, it’s 25 years old, but still works perfectly.
