Poorly made inaccurate shells with a quickly dwindling supply of artillery to fire them. The race is on between Russia’s ability to manufacture weapons of war and its increasingly dire economic outlook.
I sincerely hope that the twenty sided die that is Trump’s decision making process comes up as a nat 20 in Ukraine’s favour and he gives Ukraine what they need.
Come on nat 20.
One thing to keep in mind is that Russian military is basically built around artillery. EU militaries, with some exceptions (Finland) is not. So Russian doctrine calls for, and requires, massive amount of artillery.
>In March, the EU allocated 500 million euros ($544 million) to bolster the EU’s ammunition production capacity to 2 million shells per year by the end of 2025.
The 2 million is not just for Ukraine, as EU exports to others and itself. Maybe Ukraine would get 1 million?
Does increased production allow EU inventories to go a bit lower now? Refill after the war.
The west doesn’t use unguided rockets to the same extent as Russia and they’re fairly easy to produce. Bet you the major increase are in those numbers.
There’s also very little news about new ammunition factories or any subcomponent factories, or import of machinery. Instead it seems like Russian artillery activity is somewhat reduced to almost half of what it was a few months ago.
Russia only outproducing EU by 30% is a lot less than I expected.
That’s absolutely not much. They went from a 10/1 advantage to now an estimated 2/1. With only 30% more and not in systems this can go 1/1 next year or better
This is fucking embarrassing, how the hell are we not able to produce 10 times the amount of a shithole like Russia
The answer is long range weapons & severe punishments for skirting sanctions.
Listen to [This](https://podcasts.apple.com/ca/podcast/ukraine-the-latest/id1612424182?i=1000676121712) episode of Ukraine The Latest for info on weapons procurement. This was an eye opener!
We are not at war, Rusia it is. We do not really heavy in artillery, Russia does. So it’s not that bad for us to be “just” 30% behind.
