  1. Some people will say “Yes they should be paying tax like everyone else” but why is raising everyone’s taxes the only solution? Why not make massive cuts to both taxes and spending, surely some parts of government and spending can be reduced?

  14. And once again no one has explained why farmers magically can’t use commonplace IHT mitigation methods.

    I ran some numbers using less than ideal circumstances for a single farmer with a £3m estate, and calculated the cost of passing on the entire estate whole to be £8.5k. That’s peanuts for a farm estate in the top 4.5% of values.

  16. Still not sure why farmers should be the only ones exempt from paying tax inheriting a business.. When everyone else has to pay tax…
