Don’t blame the workers, blame Uber eats etc for employing them.
Ah, thanks for the propaganda.
“Here’s an emotional story on why you shouldn’t have borders”.
Thanks again
‘Undocumented’ – so, illegal then?
It should be easy enough for a government task force to mop these guys up as they work. Any costs for doing so should be taken from Uber, Just Eat etc…
No sympathy, fuck off
Right so this is a failing at all levels, government for keeping tabs on these people coming here, Uber/justeat/deliveroo for not being wiser on undocumented and account sharing, and customers for not reporting these people
Finally it’s a failing on the police to not setup checks on these people and ambush at restaurants and their meeting grounds and do home office checks on then
Sick of people in this country glorifying criminality. Find them, process them then either let them work or send them back to their origin countries.
I do not believe there is any country in the world where its own citizens cannot be sent back. If the foreign office determines that the people of any country are a danger to us, then those people should NEVER be allowed to travel here.
These fuckers wouldn’t get a tourist visa let alone right to work. We’re a JOKE.
This isn’t. No surprise many illegals working in legal jobs pretty sure a or some officials got done for having illegal cleaners
Matar’s reason for claiming asylum in the UK is irrelevant, and purposefully so
Yeah, I’m gonna call shenanigans on that, bud
“Like Patel who is a child of immigrants”. Well her parents came to the UK legally.
“They do the jobs Brits don’t want to do!”
I remember trying to get a job doing deliveroo/just eat etc as a student and not being able to get one due to a wait list. Plenty of illegals riding around on E-Bikes though.
How about a planned needs/resources based immigration plan? Suits the establishment to have this pool of labour floating about.
One day immigrants grow old or ill. Ponzi scheme.
Never pay tax , never get a full wage , live in shitty housing little or no women to marry
What a shitty idea coming here illegally is
Just. Leave.
I’m convinced the biggest thing the government could do to curb economic migrants abusing the asylum system is simply make these delivery companies add facial I’d check on their apps to ensure the person using the account is in fact that person. Something like every time you accept an order you need to pass a facial I’d like how you unlock a phone. This one simple, cheap and fast solution could curb so much illegal working which is such a pull factor for illegal immigrants.
According to the article, ‘*young men are often decried by right and centrist tabloids as “fake asylum seekers” or “economic migrants” hoping to trick the system*’.
In the very next paragraph, it states that the reason people claim asylum is “*irrelevant*”.
Complaining that people are falsely accused of lying to gain asylum, then effectively claiming that it doesn’t matter if they lie anyway, and that everyone who turns up should be allowed to stay. Also blurring the lines between refugees, asylum seekers and economic migrants.
Delivering food in a country you have been assessed as having no right to be in makes you an *illegal* economic migrant. A very simple example being the thousands of illegal Brazilian immigrants delivering food across London, all of whom have been able to enter via the Channel since we left the EU, more significantly since 2018. They pay no tax, have no insurance, no recourse to public funds, yet are able to keep all of their earnings. This was NOT a major issue before Brexit.
The character in the film isn’t a “refugee”. He’s a failed asylum seeker. If he has lied in his application (which the vast majority of applicants do), he is a criminal and should be detained then deported – not given free roam of the entire country to do as he pleases. If his personal situation is truly as dire as is made out, there should be no reason for him to lie and his claim will be decided on all of its merits. “Poverty” should not be deemed a qualifying factor for refugee status if you can afford to pay thousands to a people smuggler. The only reason he would lie is that he knows there is no purpose for him to be in the UK.
The only way this will ever stop is if applicants are allowed to claim asylum from their country of origin (the list of which would not be very long). Those who are successful can then enter the UK legally upon proof of a successful claim; those whose claims have been rejected should automatically be barred from making any future applications or ever entering the UK – no appeals allowed. Deportation to their country of origin should also be a significant deterrent but barely happens anymore so the risk of being sent back is significantly outweighed by the likelihood of being allowed to abscond with no consequences once they are here. Small boats passengers should also be returned to France immediately upon arrival – the economic consequences would not cause anywhere near as much damage as the perpetual continuation of these crossings.
