Fun fact, they could have taken Trinity College as a redoubt in the centre of Dublin, it was almost empty of students for the Easter Holidays. But the squad sent to take it was “warned” by an old woman who claimed it was full of soldiers. It wasn’t, but they took fire from some colonial troops who had took shelter there and routed. The college would become a garrison for a huge number of British soldiers for the rest of the Rising.
