Hi Guys,
I just move to a new apartment in Berlin with this new (for me) heating system. Right now is set exactly as the pictures show, and we have all the radiators almost totally open (max). The thing is that the heater is going on and off all the time in different short intervals. The flat is ok but I'm not sure of this configuration is the best in terms of efficiency. Could anyone give some advice?

Thanks!

  1. This thing can’t really be regulated, be happy it’s working. Just operate your radiators how you need them

  2. The radiators will ‘switch off’ once the set temperature is reached, I recommend setting them all to 3 for now.

The on/off cycles are fine and how most heating systems here will work.

  3. Check that pressure indicator, it is very low. The heating circuit is possibly missing water.

If you don’t know how to add water and remove air from the circuit then you’d better ask your landlord.

  4. A set of Heizkörperthermostat, possibly with an additional thermometer to measure where you actually want it, is very easy to install in your situation and can go a long way towards efficiency and comfort.

That’s normal. When I was still at university we got one for an apartment that had broken gas furnaces when we moved in.

Problem with these things is that their lowest burner setting will still heat up a lot of water very quickly. Meanwhile the system for a single apartment doesn’t hold much water and the apartment itself doesn’t have enough volume, so the rooms get warm very quickly but they also cool down very quickly.

So basically the heater is way too overpowered for a way too small apartment.

Thus the heater needs to constantly switch on and off to keep the temperature in a specific range.

  6. There’s no pressure inside of the heater.
It’s basically non. You need to refill your system including the radatiors and bleed them from air.
If you don’t it will keep cycling because there is no heating medium that it can heat up.

Set the temperature as needed. Once the set room temp. has been reached, your heating system will turn of until it drops below a certain threshhold.

  7. You should have a control unit in one of the rooms where you can control the heating times sndvtsrget temperature for this room. In this room you should open the radistor valve completely. All other rooms are heated in parallel with this room. Here you can rule the temperature additionally by the radiator valves.
These gas heater heat up quite fast, I suggest to program than to be off, when you’re at work or abroad.

  8. Plumber here. The pressure is too low. The system needs water.
