A Danish delegation led by Pia Kjærsgaard (DF) departed for Taiwan on Sunday. The group, which includes Mikkel Bjørn (DF), Steffen Larsen (LA), and Kim Aas (S), was invited by Taiwan’s government. They plan to meet with Taiwan’s president and several ministers.
The visit comes amid rising tensions with China, which claims Taiwan as part of its territory, despite Taiwan’s independent government. Denmark does not recognize Taiwan diplomatically, but Pia Kjærsgaard believes the West should show support.
Kim Aas, the only representative from a government party, sees the visit as a chance to learn about Taiwan’s technology and green transition. He insists it’s not meant as a provocation toward China.
