  1. I honestly don’t understand the pushback on this, don’t get me wrong there needs to be safeguards in place to ensure assisted dying isn’t abused but in cases like this he is suffering significantly and it would be compassionate to allow him his wish.

And if your completely heartless and care just about the financial side of this issue it’ll also save on palliative care costs for the nhs

  2. Everyone should be entitled to dignity to end their lives when facing a terminal illness. What’s the obsession with prolonging peoples suffering against their will? … I just don’t get it.

I have worked in a care role for nearly a decade, and have witnessed so many at the end of their lives. Of course they all have palliative care, pain relief, medication for agitation… In my experience there’s no amount of morphine that can actually stop the level of pain that people experience as their organs are shutting down. Death is a painful and slow process. Especially when cancer is involved… People should absolutely have the choice to end their suffering sooner if that is what they truly want. What’s the point of forcing someone to suffer to the very end. We don’t even force our beloved pets to suffer, we do the kind thing. Why can we not extend that kindness to humans?

Giving people this choice IS an act of kindness. I have seen too many people suffer with pain and agitation while providing end of life care. In my experience most people who argue against assisted dying are lucky enough to be ignorant of how horrendous and torturous the slow process of death actually is, or they are swayed by their own religious beliefs. (And I don’t believe it’s right to force one’s beliefs on another person).

As long as there is a safe procedure in place, where a persons own wishes, diagnosis and ultimately their OWN CHOICE is respected, then I see nothing wrong with letting people die pain free, with dignity.

  3. ‘Mr Dye has stage 4 incurable bowel cancer. which has spread to his liver, lungs and brain.’ Let him decide ffs.
