I would like to see vat reduced on all zero alcohol drinks in pubs as it will encourage people to still go out and be able to drive home.

No it won’t, it’ll just encourage publicans to put up the price of them by the corresponding amount.
Well, there’s no excise duty paid for a start.
dont think it works like that i mean they keep putting the price of fags up but it doesnt stop people from smoking.
3 publicans in a trench coat pretending to be a consumer
Non alcoholic drinks are already subject to considerably less tax in terms of both VAT and Excise. https://www.oireachtas.ie/en/debates/question/2022-07-26/323/speech/267/
Bar owners do not pass those savings on. There is no reason to expect that they would if VAT were lowered further. They’d just pocket the difference.
Guinness 0.0 is currently more expensive by pint then standard Guinness & it makes no sense.
0.0s are ghastly. If I need to stay sober I’m sticking to blackcurrant. Kinnegar had an OK na beer which can be found only in _those_ bars. And they don’t take kindly to me asking if its possible to stick on racing tv there lol
I would like to see vat reduced on all alcoholic drinks in pubs because I fucking love pints
Guiness 0.0 is so good and so close to the original that it’s all I drink now. Lost a bit of weight as a result as well.
I get what you’re saying.
I just don’t understand the point of zero alcohol beverages.
I can understand people not wanting to drink alcohol for whatever reason be it driving or otherwise. But in that case but did not be cheaper to get a coffee or cola or something.
It’s not like most people drink Porter for the taste, we drink 0% alcohol beverages at home.
If the purpose of minimum unit pricing was to improve the health of the nation, **why not maximum unit pricing for non-alcoholic beer?** Max €3 a pint.
In reality minimum unit pricing was nothing to do with improving our health, it was an attempt to get people into pubs instead of drinking at home. Corrupt fucking country
It won’t make a difference. Publicans will just raise the price and pocket the difference.
They has been marked up in pubs for the invented convenience of providing such a specialise product, which is why it wont happen like people want. There is no incentive. The small % of people who want this is too low so pubs will not care nor will they ever.
Pay €7 for a non alcohol drink 🤣
The VFI would be lobbying to raise the price of Fanta to match Guinness Zero.
The publicans won’t pass on the savings sure and if they did it would be for a month before increasing them again. Shower.
I dont think we should be giving tax breaks to Diageo. We should be encourging social interactions outside of pubs.
Stupid question but can you drink alcohol free beer that’s something like 0.5% and still drive? I know Guinness 0.0% has none in it. I get vague answers when I google it.
Fuck them. Let them go out of business.
The real vote winner would be reducing VAT on alcoholic drinks.
Bar owners charge €4 for a 200ml mineral, you think they’ll pass a VAT saving on to customers?
Let’s do lines of baking powder while we’re at it
That non alcoholic drinks are so comparatively expensive to what they should be in 2024 is honestly baffling.
Nobody goes out to drink non-alcoholic beverages. You do that at home.
