Taylor Swift was the biggest winner at the MTV Europe music awards on 10 November, picking up four trophies. This year’s ceremony, with performances by Shawn Mendes, Raye and the South African singer Tyla, was held in Manchester for the first time, having previously travelled to Glasgow, Liverpool, Belfast and Edinburgh, as well as three visits to London since it began in 1994. Broadcast live to more than 150 countries across the world, the EMAs are watched closely by the music industry, as they often give a hint as to which artists will succeed at the Grammys
