> Dwayne Johnson admitted in a new GQ magazine cover story that he is late to set sometimes and has peed in water bottles to save time during filming, two claims that were at the center of a viral report from The Wrap earlier this year. The story alleged that Johnson’s behavior, especially his tardiness on set, drove the budget of his new Christmas movie “Red One” up to a staggering $250 million. Insiders told The Wrap that Johnson could be as much as eight hours late to set some days.
> “Yeah, that happens,” Johnson admitted to GQ. “But not that amount, by the way. That was a bananas amount. That’s crazy. Ridiculous.”
> The Wrap also reported that Johnson had made it a habit on his movies of peeing in water bottles when he wasn’t near his trailer in order not to waste time by going to the public restroom. Johnson also admitted to GQ: “Yeah. That happens…I’ve said a thousand times: ‘Hey, I’m here. Come and ask me. And I’ll tell you the truth.’”
> But even though he is sometimes late to set and pees in bottles, Johnson said the overall controversy that the report caused was “bullshit.” His “Red One” director Jake Kasdan and co-star Chris Evans would appear to agree and defended the actor.
The original story did seem to get blown up a bit. I’m not a huge fan of the Rock, but he seems to take his work seriously. HOWEVER, when he is criticizing the work habits of other coworkers or what he likes to call “candy asses” in the Fast and Furious franchise, being late and being a bit weird on the water bottles thing does seem to be against his own criticism of others.
“My shitty behavior and diva attitude aren’t an issue for me.”
*I mean making others uncomfortable isn’t a big deal as others make it seem like it do* . You get wim 😶?
[Yeah I remember grinding my feet on Eddie’s couch](https://youtu.be/bnIWuZ-m3sw?si=j8elvzZS79z96_np)
I get being half hour late to set, but 8 fucking hours is inexcusable.
“I never just did things just to do them, come on. I mean, what am I gonna do? Just all of a sudden jump up and grind my feet on someone’s couch, like it’s something to do? Come on, I got a little more sense than that. Yeah, I remember grinding my feet on Eddie’s couch.”
I know from bodybuilding forums that having a piss bottle around can be a life saver. Not sure why that’s part of this hit piece see: https://imgur.com/a/worst-date-EOpfb
Why does this sound like something Jenna Maroney would say?
He’s a proud douche, I’ll give him that!
Now talk about the ‘no one can defeat me’ clause in the contract.
Isn’t the rock being a diva one of the main reasons Vin diesel and him had a falling out when working on F&F.
Kinda sick of this dude, tbh.
Go away already.
Just the way of the road bubs.
So he pees in bottles to save time and then just?? Walks around with unwashed peepee hands 😭😭
I dont understand why people are so late at filming, I mean half hour ok, but 2-3 hours? WTH Seriously, where is profissionalism? also it cost money being late. also all the background professionals that need to wait for the lead of actor comes.
Between that “I must win all fights” contract clause of his and being late on set, I can see why Vin Diesel hated the dude lmao.
Peeing in bottles and a tad bit late. Amazon drivers can relate.
This guy has been a known piece of shit for awhile. Industry secret type thing. Guaranteed to be me tood within a year or two as well
All right, I’ve actually worked On Set with “DJ” as people call him. (as we are instructed to call him.)
We did the _____ unit for season two of Young Rock. 3 weeks.
I got to work with the people that handled him and there were two maybe three rules, depending on how you look at it:
1. He will not work more than an eight hour day and he will not show up On Set before noon.
2. If there is a financial path where he does not have to be outdoors filming, then they will take it.
3. If he is going to be outdoors filming or even if he’s going to be filming at a studio, then his three trailer private base camp is the closest piece of equipment there can be.
Beyond that he is generally jovial and nice On Set. I’ve only seen him “intense” a handful of times. If he has a chance to meet a fan or Field a request, his team and him will usually try to make it happen. He is a pretty nice guy on the public/professional facing front.
As far as the “being late on Set”, from what I’ve witnessed, imagine you get a call time of 8 AM. The entire crew is there and the Director and everyone lines up the shot with a body double.
The Rock if he’s running on time will show up sometime between 12 and one. I think on a really important shooting day he showed up at 11:30.
then he has to go through Wardrobe and make up.
so there’s a big possibility he’s not on Set until at least 2 PM. maybe you are filming by 3 PM and then you’ll wrap for the day between 8 and 10 PM.
A 12 hour day is standard for the film crew, but I find when I work on a film set with him, I’m usually doing a 10 hour day max.
One final note that I forgot is that when he is filming on Set he usually has a miniature living room built for him close by. For those that are wondering this is not actually a normal thing. It’s close and it can be a normal thing for demanding stars but for usual actors it’s not normal.
Edit: if you were wondering why they give us such an early call time when they know he will not be there until later. It’s not always 8 AM sometimes it’s nine or 10 AM. The point is that they will go through all of the shots that he’s in and prepare accordingly to streamline it so when he gets there, he can go through everything relatively fast.
He’s not far left anymore, so he has to be canceled. Expect way more shit thrown at him.
This just remind me of the Rick James skit. “I never kicked his couch Charlie Murphy’s couch.”. Two seconds later. “Year I did that.”
I mean I’m late to work and pee in bottles while on the clock all the time… what’s the big deal?
Oh he’s a millionaire with (probably) readily available restrooms? I see now
Vin Diesel must be feeling vindicated
Not even remotely shocked lol. Seems like a lot of guys go through a trucker bottle phase lol
Yeah its bullshit, but in a much more real way, its absolutely true. – the rock
The Rock, who used to be the hero, slowly becoming the villain.
“That happens”? Fuck’s sake. It doesn’t happen, he does it and he can’t even own it — to him, it’s just some random thing that happens, nobody’s to blame, certainly not him.
Why uh.. why you peeing in bottles bro?..
That’s fucking weird, man. You’re an incredibly wealthy and famous actor. They’ll let you skip to the loo if you need to.
He’s such a dickhead
As a person: There are decades of stories about him. Decide how you want to feel because clearly none of that matters.
Late to call times: It is incredibly rude and disrespectful to the crew. But plenty of actors will think of it as them being STARS. Because… there is a LOT of time spent on production sets using doubles and stand-ins to dial in lighting anyway. So someone could view it as being comparable to Clint Eastwood’s “one take” policy for efficiency (which is also really shitty to a lot of performers but…). Get the crew dialed in and then bring in the talent. But don’t tell them that because you are a prick.
Piss bottles: He was an athlete then a pro wrestler for the first half of his life. I used to work with an indie wrestling promotion the better part of a decade ago (Manager and announcer role but I was trained to take more bumps than I should have). Basically EVERYONE who came out of WWE (as in they were there for a few years, had some tv time, etc), and one person from TNA, did the same until they were told “What the fuck is wrong with you?!?! We have toilets”
I was told it is one of those things they were taught to do because it means they are always available to be called to gorilla (the curtains behind the entrance ramp) and because there was a fear that people would ambush them and test them for steroid usage by sampling the toilet to get rid of them. So you piss in a bottle that you can dump out on the floor if someone asks for it and you trust it to people you trust your career with. And considering The Rock was a pretty open enemy of The Kliq… I can believe that.
It is still INCREDIBLY disgusting and should trigger sexual harassment investigations (there are arguments it isn’t but…) but.. yeah.

Heard it from multiple people with two different names named. But the idea was that WWE would have someone turn the valve on the toilets/urinals so they couldn’t flush. Then they would follow the person they want to suspend/fire, give them a minute or two in the bathroom, and then burst in and take a sample from the truly rank toilet/urinal. It wasn’t proof that THAT person was on steroids (because everyone was) but it WAS enough evidence to make their lives hell and hold them for a re-testing in a way that means said talent can’t go buy some clean piss like everyone did for the “random” tests.
He should try in n out burger for the first time again
This a PR article to fix his image because I’m sure The Rock went to a meeting and his agents were like they don’t like you/your image is on the decline, we need to put out press to fix your image to sustain your career.
He really is the new Hulk Hogan. The asshole he played in wrestling worked… because that’s really who is.
pees in bottles to save time then delays the set multiple hours a day. makes total sense
Late to filming? lol you had one job, to be in a film and you failed
Wasn’t this the main sticking point with his beef with Vin Diesel on the Fast movies? Hmm
Never liked this fucker. He always came across fake as fuck.
$250M Christmas movie with the Rock. What could go right?
Is he beefing with his publicity agent and purposefully making their job harder?
