OVERLAND PARK, Kan. (KCTV) – Overland Park is taking ideas from the community to name the new Farmers’ Market and Downtown Gathering Space Improvements project.
The City will begin construction on the new facility in December.
When the project is complete, the space will house the Overland Park Farmers’ Market on Wednesdays and Saturdays during market season. The project will also bring permanent shade structures, additional shopper seating, expanded restroom access, improvements to spaces adjacent to the market structure including the Clock Tower Plaza, Overland Park Drive, and Marty Street. In addition, the space will provide a new gathering space for watch parties, concerts, and other public events.
The city is accepting input for a future name of the market structure and surrounding area through December 1.
On December 7, the Overland Park Farmers’ Market will host a Pavilion Farewell Celebration at 11:45 a.m., marking the final market. The current pavilion will then be donated to Garnett, Kansas’ farmers’ market.
