Last person I thought I’d agree with. Haven’t kept track with his prior positions on the subject, but maybe this is indicative of Israel falling out of favor in the overall political scene.
These middle-eastern monarchs like the Saudis or King Abdullah of Jordan are scared of the day that the people will want them gone asking for democracy, so they’ve been towing a fine line between staying in public’s favor while not diverging too much from the Western interests in the region. The anti-Israel sentiment within the public is at an all-time high right now, and the Saudi monarch must’ve started to feel the will of the people on their neck. So yeah, I don’t think for a second that Bin Salman has any conscience, but the public pressure – as well as Iran’s olive branches from the new president – seems to finally have an effect. Hope this would help put a stop to Netanyahu’s madness since the hopes that any Western pressure would do so is getting dimmer day by day.
