>she had already been taking the weight-loss drug Ozempic, but no longer had access to it, and was concerned she was rapidly gaining weight.
Sigh
What people do to avoid exercise and healthy diet.
why do people go to health travel agencies and get operated on by random surgeons? presumably you want the best doctor possible for the job so you’d go around and consult many ?
So sad. She wasn’t even that large
Visited Istanbul in September and it was fairly mad the amount of people in the airport and on the flight who had work done, I thought it was a bit of a meme but on our flight I saw at least 5 lads with a hair transplant, another woman with something to do with her arse (there was a whole ordeal trying to get her on the plane) and another girl who couldn’t have been any older than 20 with a nose job.
Well, technically…
eat well, exercise
problem solved
Most weight reduction surgeries i’ve seen advertised feel scammy or at least dubious, so I’m not surprised
Don’t look for the cheapest solution anywhere. You don’t even buy a cheap phone but welcome cheap doctors. There are top brand hospitals, dentals … in Turkey but still…pity.
Imagine going to a country that is known as one of the worst in terms of scamming tourists – and trusting your life to doctors literally targeting tourists.
It’s sad that this is a widespread issue but I’ve honestly stopped feeling sorry for these people.
LoL it’s baffling to me that western tourists chose to go to those sketchy doctors while the Turks around here go to actual credible doctors that work for gov hospitals or university hospitals or work for credible private facilites. (Saying this as a Dr. myself)
This happened to one of my neighbours. She went to get some kind of job done and ended up braindead from the anesthesia. Last I heard, the husband had to sell the house to bring her back to Sweden because they didn’t have the right insurance or something.
And they have kids the same age as mine…
Darwin Award contender.
nobody told them about the hair transplant industry that is going on for a few years now?
They’ll do EVERYTHING to lose weight.
Except, you know, exercising and eating less…
I had bariatric surgery, in my own country, and our team of doctors and nurses constantly take in emergencies from Turkey, some on the brink of death. Unfortunately, for some of them, it’s too late to even do something, but our doctors still try. And then you have the stories from the survivors, how everything seemed great and then they stopped answering the phones, ignoring them, some teams in Turkey even claimed they speak no English or that they didn’t have the pacient there. How wild is that?
How can someone who swore an oath to help people, just ignore the pleas? It’s because they are not being fined hard enough. Or even put 1 or 2 of them in prison.
Edit: before the nasty comments, sometimes just “eat less and exercise” is not so easy or not so easy to manage if you don’t have a good support system. Because it is very difficult and hard to find trainers and nutritionists who truly work with obese people. I remember once a trainer had me do jumping jacks until I nearly passed out, and he said “ah come on, you are exaggerating”. I was extremely overweight and he had 0 knowledge on how to deal with me. After 2 months he was the one who quit on me, because it was too difficult to modify exercises. How do you think that makes a person feel? Not great, I can say that much.
For me, personally, the surgery has been a blessing, a second chance to reset, I have done it a few years ago and I am still keeping the weight off, I am exercising and ENJOYING it too, eating much better etc. The surgery has impacted me in both negative and positive ways, but the positives are outweighing the negatives.
So yes, some want easy fixes, and some want a second chance. There is a difference. Unfortunately for this woman it ended badly and it shouldn’t have happened.
Just lose the weight in the kitchen…
If you want to go abroad to get cosmetic surgery why not pay a little bit extra and go to the likes of Czech, Poland etc who also are much cheaper than western countries but at least have a higher standard being eu countries and having rules and regulations being enforced.
She looks like the most British woman I have ever seen.
Her own stupidity caused her death just as much as the “surgeon”.
