  1. Even if people say it will face opposition I am extremely worried about my boyfriend. He has birthright citizenship. His mother is an immigrant but he was born here, with Trump’s promise of mass deportations and getting rid of birthright I’m so worried. Under this administration many things will get worse but it would be devastating if the life, the family, the beautiful story we are building is cut short because of an angry angry man. Is anyone else feeling similar. 🙁

  3. If people were really opposed to this they should have voted for Harris. Its been in the project 2025 for a while. I have no sympathy for people who aren’t willing to vote or do research on who is going to best represent their interests.

    Edit: If they are taking natural bornness away then someone also might try to set it up so it could be bestowed. Sounds irrational but we are here.

  10. It’s going to be interesting when people start to realize the implications of the Supreme Court ruling that made Presidents above the law.

    Sure, lawsuits will be filed and friendly courts may even issue an injunction, but why would that deter Trump? He can face no legal consequences for any action he takes as President. And even if it’s something crazy that falls on the outer-perimeter of his role, he’ll simply tell the DOJ to stand down because he doesn’t care about the perception of that agency being independent.

    Congressional democrats could try to impeach if they take control of the House in 2026, but unless they also win a super majority of the Senate at the same time (which is impossible given the current map), Trump won’t ever be convicted and removed from office.

    The people that execute Trump’s orders could face consequences eventually, but we’ve seen how slow the court system moves when people claim Executive Privilege and file endless appeals. Even if they are convicted, Trump or his successor can just pardon them before they face any consequences.

    Trump will certainly sign this executive order, and people with birthright citizenship will be deported. If you or someone you love is impacted, they may have to fight that deportation in a country they’ve never called home. If their “native” country doesn’t accept them however, they may end up living in a work camp for god knows how long.

  12. Trump’s proposed agenda mostly contradicts the interests of his corporate donors.

    They don’t want to deport cheap labor. They don’t want the government to ban their pharmaceutical products. They don’t want to pay tariffs on every input they purchase. Etc.

    It’s going to be a weird fucking two years with this asshole.

  14. “Mountain of opposition” is weird way to phrase “the constitution”.

    “All persons **born** or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside.” 14th Amendment

  17. LOL. Who’s going to stop him? He has the Senate, he’s probably going to have the House, SCOTUS already anointed him a King for life and the American people gave him the keys to the kingdom last week. We had our chance to stop him with a fantastic candidate and she got her ass handed to her.

    Game over guys. He’s gonna get everything he wants because the people chose him. He literally wrote a playbook for what he was going to do and Harris begged everyone to stop him and people didn’t care.

  18. This Supreme Court will rubber stamp anything Trump wants to do. They will somehow decide that “born in the US” does not mean born in the US.

  22. They don’t have nearly the seat needed in the House and Senate to do this. Ending birthright citizenship requires a Constitutional Amendment to undo the citizenship clause in the 14th Amendment, and that requires 2/3 of the House & Senate to propose it, and 2/3 of the Senate to ratify it. Never. Gonna. Happen.

    This is more hollow promises from Trump to his base he has no ability to actualize.

  23. Someone needs to tell this “opposition” that the time to oppose it was at the ballot box. It’s too late now. He has all 3 branches of government as well as a super conservative and sympathetic SCOTUS.

    Over the last 2 days all I have seen are headlines of large amounts of opposition to Trump’s policies. He wasn’t keeping them secret people. Where were you last Tuesday?

  24. Since when does Trump care about opposition? anyone who stood in his way, house membe, senate, whatever, would get dismissed as quickly as possible. He is a dictator, and american has a high possibility of turning into a dictatorship in hten ext 4 years. If you oppose him, he harms you, he doesnt work with you. He doesnt try to compromise, its his way, or you’re out, thats it.

  26. Here’s what I want to know: if birthright citizenship–the notion that you, by virtue of being born on US Soil, are a citizen of the United States–is actually eliminated…what replaces it? What becomes our new benchmark criteria for identifying somebody as a legal citizen?

    The answer to this ought to be of immense importance to, well…all US citizens. For the overwhelming majority of us, the fact that we were born here is really all we have to go by to say we are citizens here. Sure, for–again the overwhelming majority of us–it is also true that both of our parents, and possibly even all of our grandparents, were born here before we were born here, so we have ancestral history to point to beyond just our own personal birthplace…but if “birthright” citizenship goes away, is that narrative history about our ancestry still going to mean anything?
