“At least 35 people were killed and 43 more injured after a car ploughed into a crowd of people exercising at a stadium in Zhuhai, China on Monday, according to authorities.
A 62-year-old male driver, surnamed Fan, is alleged to have driven an SUV through a barrier and into Zhuhai Sports Centre in what local police described as a “serious and vicious attack”. Chinese media reported that many elderly people, as well as teenagers and children, were among the injured.
Fan was arrested while trying to flee, police said, and is currently in a coma as a result of self-inflicted wounds.”

Police have said initial investigations suggest the ramming attack was triggered by Fan’s dissatisfaction with the outcome of a property settlement following his divorce.

That’s awful. R.I.P to the victims.
Many of those attacks are motivated by the sense of injustice and despair, knowing neither the legal system nor anything else can bring justice to them. Rest are sociopaths, often after getting themselves in financial or other troubles they blame the society and try to get revenge by hurting innocent people for their own mistakes.
Anyway, they deserve the ultimate punishment.

Just like nearly every (or maybe every!) senseless mass killing since I came to China 20+ years ago, this was perpetrated by an angry older man. In the US, it seems like the young incels are dangerous, but in China, it’s guys 45 and up who feel like they’ve been cheated in life and want revenge against people who haven’t been.
Our courts recently legalized this sort of murder.

See this wouldn’t have happened if there were strict regulations on assault cars.
35 is a massive number of people to kill and hitting 80+ is just bonkers if you think about it. Holy shit. I mean, have there been many high number vehicle murders before? Just seems very high to me. Usually a few get hurt or killed before the vehicle hits an immovable object or just stops cause of something.
