Not on a NATO member, but I could see him either detonating a “test” nuke on the Ukrainian boarder, or in response to a false-flag dirty bomb attack against Ukraine.

”Putin” cannot “press” any “nuclear button”. Not any more than Trump could.
No one individual can actually launch nuclear weapons. Not even a national leader.
There is a chain of command and a process – a process which has saved the world MANY times from both the US and Russia thinking they were under attack and setting off their own weapons. It’s a techical process with many layers and an entire layer of processes and measures that would have to be activated alongside it, including evacuations, countermeasures and many more things.
If you keep reading the newspapers throwing individual stories about cartoon characters, you will never be informed.
We have a serious situation and its not about any one individual. The risk of world war is also real. And these are the issues we need to address and get the soldiers going back home and Ukraine reconstructed with a better government and their people in a long term peace process rather than 10 years of civil war..
A more useful question to ask would be, “do we really want the world where Putin was given what he asked out of fear before his madness”.
