My daughter found a very cute cat and kittens in my backyard. My lodgers said they have been there a month and the cat gave birth in my shed about a month ago. I have never had an animal in my life, I am allergic to cats and don’t have the first clue about what to do with them. I think there are about 4 ( maybe 5) kittens, we fed them some tuna, will they just grow up and leave one day? should I find an adoptive family?
I haven’t had them in as I don’t won’t a cat but worried as it’s so cold outside

RSPCA or local Cat’s Protection.
Please don’t leave them out in the cold, they are kittens so will find it difficult to regulate their body heat just like a baby.
I know you don’t want a cat, or kittens but just until you can transfer them somewhere safe please take them in, and just let them have a single room of the house until you can figure out where to take them.
I’d ring your local vet and ask for advice, often times they’ll be able to take them off your hands, and check them over and flea/worm them to make sure they’re ok.
Don’t give the kittens or cat any dairy milk as it’s very bad for them.
Please just be gentle with them!
Give them a snug box if you can’t take them in. Close to the house. RSPCA if they are not overwhelmed..
Ideally contact a local animal rescue who doesn’t euthanise animals, like the Celia Hammond Animal Trust.
Celia Hammond cat charity. Important to make sure these cats are trapped and neutered so that they don’t continue to breed, it’s great that you want to feed and help them but this is vital too! Celia Hammond are a good start, or Google trap neuter release [your area] if CH can’t help
I’ve found that cats protection are wonderful and proactive, I recommend calling them.
Where are you based? There are a few local charities in south London which have helped me in the past
You’re getting some great advice here and I have nothing useful to add other than that cat looks a bit like Hitler.
That is the cat distribution system working as intended. You’re the proud new steward for a family of cats.
😻😻😻
I would take one of these in a heartbeat (north London). Although seriously, I’d listen to the other advice first!
What cuties 🥰🥰
r/kitler needs to know about this.
Also, say goodbye to your mouse problems.
London Inner City Kitties is another incredible charity that could maybe take them
Name the mum cat MeinFuhrer then advertise it for adoption.
I can’t lie, the kittens are looking kinda fat for strays
Bon appétit
Some good advice here, but cats are lactose intolerant. Also keep in mind that food designed for humans is not suitable for kittens, you need kitten food. If you want to give them milk you can buy kitten milk in supermarkets (where you can also buy kitten food).
I’d love to adopt a cat but I’m already adopting a kitten after my friend’s tabby got fucked by a stray tom in her garden one night. But see the thing is you cannot separate the kittens from the mother until after eight weeks and you don’t know how long the mother has been a stray.
Theoretically you can leave them be, but they need to be neutered or you have 25 cats next year. They do not need to be indoors, they can cope just fine with an English winter. So you could try and see if there is a charity that will neuter them and then return them. That way you could have a semi pet, without upsetting your allergies.
For all of you that say cats need to be inside, they really don’t, but of course prefer it. In the UK they are safe from predators as well, especially in town. But they absolutely have to be neutered, the kittens look old enough to get pregnant!
Well your their new owners ig
In all seriousness feed them then take them to the RSPCA
Adopt them and start a cat hospice, this is your calling in life
Im looking to adopt cats and would genuinely adopt or foster these! I’m in South East
Where do you live? I foster cats and kittens and could probably help. Send me a dm if you like.
When you feed tuna, make sure you drain the oil fully, or go for just the brine one with no added salt. They are so cute. Never ever advertise them on Facebook/Nextdoor. I saw people already mentioned Celia Hammond etc. DO NOT use RSPCA.
Head over to r/kitler post this picture there and bask in the karma
Leave them alone?
As long as you feed them they won’t go away. And they’ll tell their friends.
Awww so cute! 😍
Anyone reading this.. CELIA HAMMOND TAKE DONATIONS.. OLD BLANKETS WASHED AND REASONABLY GOOD CONDITION / FOOD / CAT CARRIERS.. ANY SPARES TAKE THEM !!
Get her to go on nextdoor
That is where a lot of cat ladies and men are.
They have access to chip scanners and a network of local charities and foster homes.
Response to this sort of thing on nextdoor is really quick in my experience.
If not Facebook.
Just go say Heil. Might be friendly
Ma’am, I’ve news for you.
You and your family have been adopted by this cat now.
First order of business; food and a place for her highness to shit 🐈
Nothing, you now have cats. Congrats.
Cat steaks om nom nom
Expired as in terms of having a restful evening
Is that the cat? lol it’s hard to tell the difference.
