  1. Probably ok to flop in a couple nights a week after a late shift at work (as it’s currently used) but surely living in it full time would give you some sort of breakdown?

  2. At £50k, it’s actually kind of tempting.. I would save so much money on rent. Shower at work / the gym, eat like you’re camping etc. When I was lying awake at night, internally screaming at my shit life, at least I could be comforted by that sweet £800/mo going into my (real) house fund and not some landlord’s pockets.

E: for clarity, my life is not currently shit, but it would sure feel that way if you lived here.

  3. It might be used for short-term workers who need a place for a month, although even that would be taxing on your mental health. This is why we need to make it so that houses have a minimum required level of space, humans simply cannot live in boxes and expect to be happy and functioning after an extended period of time. We have the smallest houses in Europe and we should not be encouraging the development of more boxes like this.

  4. Wouldn’t mind renting something like this, Short stay, only really need a bed and means for a wash….

BUT to live in? Yeah, no fuck off at £800PM? Try maybe £100.

  5. Question from an American: How is this a legal dwelling? In the US habitable units need 2 forms of egress (entrance + exit) in case of fire. That window is being blocked by the bed unit and would be impossible to use as an egress in case of emergency. The only thing I can think of is that it’s a Victorian conversion and there’s some kind of exception on historic homes? Legally, I just don’t understand it.

  6. With all the talk of van dwelling in and around London due to rent prices it looks like a decent buy.

Similar space to a van only without worry about where to safely park, having to stay sober, proper heating, etc.

  7. They suggest a nurse might rent it as a second place to sleep. Nurses can barely afford their first house.

  8. I guarantee you this will become a norm in the next decade or so. I mean shit landlord be charging 1000+ for a fucking bedsit and thats if you’re lucky.

  9. Cheaper than in some Asian countries.
A car parking space can easily go for twice that (cheapest). Guess that’s the route the UK will end up going.

  10. Smaller or bigger than a prison cell?

…and it’s expected to go for well over £100k lol

    Londoners are a funny breed.

  11. Maybe good for someone who visits London a lot and just wants somewhere to sleep over. I’ll spend a week or two in a tent that is smaller with no real problems.
