  1. My dad wrote off my mam’s car years ago chancing something like this. The water level kept rising. The car cut out and the water came in the doors. He still hears about it 20 odd years later.

  2. What are you driving @OP ?

I know some Land Rovers are signed off to up to 3 feet of water, but there aren’t many vehicles I’d risk fording that road in.

  3. I live in the countryside and this is why we own a pickup. Never would have attempted that in a car

( Without the pickup we would be unable to get home at times).

  4. Glad the road was still underneath you. Doesn’t matter if you’re in a car or a pick up or truck, you’re screwed if there’s no road. Testing the water depth in one spot doesn’t mean it’s not a metre deeper 10cm further than that. Water over road = do not go.

  5. I used to do this in AK all the time. You see the water building up in front of the vehicle?

If you let off the throttle for a brief moment and let that wave get about 3ft in front of you, the water behind it will be extremely shallow compared to the rest and you can chase it through.

I do not recommend this at all, just something I’ve experienced.

  6. You did it right OP. Once you get that now wave going stay right behind it (as long as it makes sense of course!)
