From my research my street and possibly city is being blackcucked hard

I keep having to remind myself that America isn’t even 300 years old, and didn’t start with everything owned by the Church or some Lord. There’s some growing pains going on socially.
Hey everyone here can buy their own place! … Just put down 20 percent or if your partners not working 35 percent up front…
Everyone’s got minimum 200k-350k just lying around right??
The reasons for this are very interesting and complex, and could be changed by referendum if people wanted.
The thing in Zürich is that even if you got the money to buy something, you don’t get any real estate offer from places you want and if anything pops up on the market, you’ve got desperate people outbidding an already heavily inflated price.
Me: Looking at an Eigentumswohnung in Basel and the mortgage calculator basically telling me I have to earn double of what I earn now, or pay four times more in up front payment to afford a mortgage, that would be 3/4th of my current rent.
Best way to get on the property ladder in Switzerland?
Hope your parents bought cheap and die.
Home ownership is not a necessity, and should not be incentivized by the government, much less subsidized like it is in the US.
PS: But housing IS a necessity, which can be easily met by renting.
I honestly don‘t see the problem.

Does anyone know any cantons where it’s legal to build a tiny house?
Can you make it any more obvious you’re a fellow hodler 😀 …?
It’ll be interesting to see if work from home will lead to a significantly lower demand for office space or not. Maybe some of that space could be repurposed to residential zones.
How about a baugenossenschaft?
Question because I’ve not found the answer anywhere: if a company owns real estate in CH that they rent to people, do they have to pay Eigenmietwert?
If no, how is that even fair, owning your house costs money but if it’s a company making profits off you they don’t have to pay anything?
Yeah, welll… Just bought an apartment 2 months ago. We came to Switzerland 5 years ago with empty pockets. It’s possible if you don’t go out on expensive vacations all the time and if you’re not buying the entire Zalando and/or Galaxus every month. And we are not doctors nor very well payed. We were just rigorous with our spending and didn’t buy a brand new 5 pièces apartment with a view over the lake in the latest trendy neighborhood….
Still, one of the apartments we were looking at was bought the very next day by some company and the realtor was a bit of an ass too.
Yeah there is no chance I will consider Switzerland for long term living because of this.
Forever dealing with the low quality of estate agents, always waiting for a flat to be knocked down for “renovation”.
The idea of building something meaningful and long term, in Switzerland is impossible.
This problem is two sided. If people would stop their “I need it, and I need it NOW” attitude, these real estate owners wouldn’t get away with their ludicrous prices. instead we have people outbidding each other on prices that are way over the top already. It starts early. Everyone trying to move out of their parents house at all cost just to be “independant”. Paying 700.- for 12m^2 rooms and other ridiculous things like that. Just chill, only rent stuff that is reasonably priced and all those greedy real estate owners would soon be forced to lower their prices…
But I guess Swiss people can continue driving the prices higher and higher.
