  1. But we just voted to become a Russian vassal state. We just switched sides. The people who voted for Trump just don’t know it yet. So Ukraine losing is now a good thing from that perspective.

  4. To be fair, the Afghanistan withdrawal was necessary. You can’t force a cultural view on people who don’t want it, indefinitely.

    Sure, withdrawing from Afghanistan was bad for a part of the afghan population. But it literally didn’t impact any other country.

    While withdrawing support from Ukraine would have negative consequences for several western countries.

  6. The us should have let the Taliban take over years before they did. Should have declared victory and withdrew before the end of the Obama administration. The US didn’t go to Afghanistan to nation build, it went for its own national security interests. The US didn’t go there to go after the Taliban, it was to combat terrorist organizations like Al qaeda. In 2001 Afghanistan was an international terrorist haven ( the Taliban are not international terrorists ). The US dismantled that haven, got the people responsible for 9/11 and prevented another 9/11. The US had long met its national security interests in Afghanistan years before the withdraw. Yes it’s true that the US could have stayed there for as long as they wanted and there’s nothing the Taliban could have done about it expect get their asses whooped but that doesn’t mean that’s what the US should have done. After nearly 2 decades of the US upholding the afghan government it was time for afghans to take full responsibility. Unfortunately the Taliban is an idea and Afghanistan is a long way from getting away from such ideas.

    It makes more strategic sense for US troops to still be in places like Iraq and Syria than it does Afghanistan. And this is coming from someone who says the US was right to go into Afghanistan but never should have invaded iraq in 2003.

    The only good things are that al queda is kept in pakistan by the taliban, and iran is afraid of the taliban so there is balance at the border.

    Other than that, we emboldened one of the worst terrorist hardline regimes in history to come to power, and we underpinned that by gifting them billions of dollars in military equipment.

  14. Abandoning Ukraine and withdrawal from NATO will be one of the most cowardly retreats the USA has ever done. Worse than the Philippines, Vietnam and Afghanistan. The worid will know the USA cannot be trusted. Already countries cannot share intelligence because Trump will simply pass it on to Putin. Its the end of the 5 eyes.

  15. Not only would we be giving Ukraine’s agricultural and fuel resources to Russia, they’re also not going to stop at Ukraine. Russia’s list of excuses includes Ukraine being a security risk. What else would Russia constitute as a security risk? How about bordering Poland, a member of NATO? Anyone with a brain should be able to see why giving up Ukraine would be devastating. It’s better to deal with Russia now they’re weak, rather than dealing with them after they’ve recovered.
