The integration of foreigners into Czech society is an important, long-term and complex process. Its goal is to ensure newcomers can live, work and participate fully in Czech society. The integration policy of the Czech Republic is focused first and foremost on the reduction of barriers that foreigners may encounter. Successful integration strengthens the sense of belonging and helps create a common identity. This is essential for long-term security, stability and prosperity for all.
It is important to coordinate actions not only at the national level but also with local actors, whose cooperation is essential for success. Since 2008, the involvement of municipalities in implementing projects funded by the Ministry of the Interior has significantly contributed to mutual understanding and coexistence at the local level.
After the arrival of a large number of Ukrainians post-2022, cooperation with municipalities developed even further. UNHCR joined us in 2023 to strengthen support in the regions. Its contribution to the ministerial fund on local integration has allowed for a higher number of Temporary Protection holders from Ukraine to benefit from integration activities.
The Ministry of the Interior appreciates these efforts to support the integration of foreigners into local communities. In many cases, municipalities have become important active partners in the process of integrating foreigners. Their work is an invaluable asset for all involved and they deserve our sincere thanks.
