  17. Surprised this didn’t happen sooner. Few weeks ago when their term started, students out the front of queens spouting hate filled lies and screaming into the mic.

    Easy to stand at a protest and fell good about supporting people,ich harder to send money and actually support people.

  18. The irony is no man came closer to securing a Palestinian state than Bill Clinton. He was practically spoon-feeding it to Arafat at Camp David like a parent trying to feed vegetables to a toddler. Arafat walked, the Palestinians went back to war, and the Israeli peace camp was shattered politically and never recovered. We’ll probably never get back to that moment in this generation anyway.

    I’m not a Northener, but looking at the Middle East, youse lot should be at least thankful for one thing: even those who seemed like they were wedded to warfare realized when the game was up and took an imperfect peace.

  19. Would like to see what happened prior to this for so many Police to run over. Certainly not enough footage there to form an opinion, and I don’t want to listen to some Tiktok post telling me what to think because that’s hardly a solid source.

  22. I would argue the difference between the two incidents comes down to is the potential reaction of the crowd.

    The PSNI can be heavy handed in situations like this as they know they won’t be overrun by protesters, as they’re students who don’t want to risk being kicked out of university or get a criminal record.

    With the violence in the summer, police could have easily been overwhelmed by people armed with petrol bombs and bricks, under the influence of drink and drugs who don’t care about going to jail.

    Escalating the situation in the summer could have ended up with a PSNI officer seriously injured. They escalated the situation today with and people just filmed it for tiktok.

  25. I saw this first hand in Derry when I was younger. Police will set up a cordon and wait for someone to lose the run of themselves. When they do the Police go in heavy on that person or section. This incites the entire protest and bish bash bonk the Police have hazard pay, overtime and all their mates round with riot gear on.

    I don’t for one second think this protest was peaceful, they look to have tried to break through the lines and get past the police. I don’t have any issue with people bleeding for their cause, full respect to them. But they shouldn’t react with righteous indignation when you get molested by a baton.
