USA 2024: How does the Electoral College system work? • FRANCE 24 English
In the US, a candidate becomes president not by winning a majority of the national popular vote, but through a system called the Electoral College. This means it’s not exactly “one person, one vote” but 50 different state-wide competitions and depending on where someone lives, their vote is more (or less) impactful.

It is not possible for the USA to eliminate the electoral college system. the effort required to overhaul the constitution is impossible.
But they can render it meaningless by requiring the number of electors to cast votes in proportion to popular vote in each state instead of being winner takes all.
All 5 times the candidate who won The Popular Vote but lost The Electoral College were Democrats; Jackson lost to Adams Jr. in 1824, Tilden lost to Hayes in 1876, Cleveland lost to Harrison in 1888, Gore lost to Bush Jr. in 2000, & Clinton lost to Trump in 2016.
I actually agrees with this system just because it's inclusive of all states and not just primarily focusing on the one with most population hence, UNITED STATES. You need to includes the voice of every states. Otherwise, it wouldn't be united if candidates will only have policy that will benefit the larger populated states.
