  1. These videos are absolutely heartbreaking and yet inspiring, to see people go and fight for their country is very powerful.

  2. There was a heartwarming video going around a few days ago of a Ukrainian soldier saying goodbye to his daughter as he went off to defend his country.

Later it transpired that it was in fact a video of a Russian soldier saying goodbye to his daughter before he went off to kill some Ukrainians.

This has no real connection to your post, but I thought it was interesting. Fog of war and all that.

  3. The strength and courage of the Ukrainian people in standing up to Russian is awe inspiring. I hope all those guys make it back to these shores safely.

  4. Leaving the safety of Ireland to go fight for their country. I don’t know if I would be as brave.

I hope their families get to welcome them home.

  5. Thanks OP – democracy comes at a high price for all of us. God speed to each of them to get back home safely.

  6. I hope each and every one of them survives and makes it home. This is atrocious that they even need to do this. SLAVA UKRAINI!

  7. Makes me think of “The foggy dew”.

“While the world did gaze, with deep amaze, at those fearless man but few. Who bore the fight that freedoms light might shine though the foggy dew”

    May they return safe

  8. Brave men. Reminds me of the thousands of Irishmen and people from other countries who went to Spain to fight fascism.

  9. I wish we were closer to Ukraine so we could help more. Even if its just going to the border and picking up a family or giving people a hot meal and a blanket.

  10. What’s most impressive about Ukraine’s resistance isn’t that their outnumbered or that they are defending mostly flat terrain in a modern war zone… nope its the fact they are fighting a brutal, ruthless and UN Convention of Human rights violator yet they are treating POW with respect despite all that.
You can really judge nation by how it treats individuals that no one would fault them for treating poorly.

The world could learn a fair bit from how Ukraine has handled itself, very respectful, decent and great bunch of lads and lassies.

  11. Harrowingly sad my son is about the same age as the little girl in the pink coat, I couldn’t imagine kissing him goodbye before I go to war, wishing our Ukrainian brothers & sisters nothing but justice & best wishes 🇮🇪🇺🇦

  12. This whole Ukraine conflict reminds me of just how little of a man I’ve become. Good to see Europeans out here BDS.

  13. “The minstrel boys will return again, when we hear the news we will cheer it.

The minstrel boys will return again, torn perhaps in body not in spirit.

Then may they play their harps in peace, in a world as heaven has intended.

Where all the bitterness of men must cease, and e’ery battle must be ended”

  14. The Irish are brave people who understand the value of freedom, especially those from the Republic of Ireland- godspeed 🇺🇦
