Luxembourg’s communications regulator, the Institut Luxembourgeois de Régulation (ILR), launched a price comparison calculator on Thursday allowing residents to evaluate offers from internet and mobile providers in the country.

With the comparison tool, found on the SmartCompare.lu website, the institute aims to create more transparency for consumers in the electronic communications market.

“The tool provides independent information on the prices and quality of internet access services as well as fixed and mobile communication services,” said the ILR, which is responsible for overseeing the electronic communications market in the Grand Duchy.

SmartCompare provides information on prices, charges, packages, quality of service and many other details of the services offered.

The tool is the latest addition to the range of services offered by the ILR to customers, such as Checkmynet.lu, where the quality of internet connection can be tested and residents can view geographical maps showing fixed and mobile network coverage, and Calculix.lu, where electricity and gas offers can be compared. All of these services are accessible via the myilr.lu website.
