  1. I think what’s really happening is Trump’s putting these unqualified nutcases forward so he can say “well Matt/Robert/Pete et al, I tried to get you appointed but the RINOs vetoed it” and carry on with some candidates that can actually do the jobs without totally destroying things. He looks heroic to these clowns because he sort of kept his promise.

He can’t do recusal appointments because he’s not sworn in yet.

  2. That’s a relief – unless there’s recess appointments.

  3. OK now quick, change the locks in the House so he can’t get back in there either!

  4. Until the vote is actually cast these “pledges” to not vote have no meaning

  5. And this dipshit already resigned his seat in Congress 🤣🤣🤣

  6. Probably not. With each batshit insane nomination the odds that any one of them get through go up.

Republicans are the party of MAGA now, they can’t go against dear leader without serious reprisals – either Trump will campaign for one of their primary opponents, ensure that they never get on any good committees, etc. And even Trump aside, their opportunities in post public life in the private sector would be limited if they’re not in good with the sitting administration/Congress/party.

So, they can maybe knock down one or two appointments and be ok, but certainly not all of them or they’re just trying to ‘hold Trump back’. So which ones are they going to give a pass? Well that’s hard to say, maybe the price for saying no to Tulsi and RFK is saying yes to Gaetz. Or vice versa – none of these are good picks and every time they decline to confirm they’re burning political capital with colleagues that have built a career in the party by holding grudges.

Most of these people will get confirmed.

  7. Just feels to me like it’s a decoy nomination to get people to sigh in relief we’re getting Ken Paxton

  8. If this is true (which I’m hardly certain after the election) Johnson really can’t afford to call recess nominations and make an enemy out of half the house.

  9. So he resigned from Florida so if they shoot him down he would have no job?

  10. Not believing that until it happens. Several SCOTUS nominees also said they wouldn’t overturn Roe v Wade when asked.

  11. Uh huh, just like last time when they were pitching a fit over noms initially then ultimately fell in line behind the orange fuhrer. I’ll believe it when I see it.

  12. Please be true. Please give me some strand of hope for the USA that there are good people still in Washington .

  13. Then they really won’t mind if it’s an open vote with their names attached, will they?

Of course 30 Republicans seem insufficient to stop a nomination, so this is very much performative

  14. Who cares. Trump will executive order him. The SCOTUS will agree. Why are people expecting the Nazis and Nazi-adjacent to play by any sort of rules? They can’t even obey the Geneva convention half the time. Why would they now they have all the power?

  15. I’ll believe it when I see it. This is a loyalty test. They will not stand against him unless their voters get loud.

  16. If he doesn’t get the nomination he will be back in the next congress MMW

  17. I’m a conservative and this is the right choice.

    Gaetz sucks.

  18. Democrats should never let them forget that the Republican president nominated a child rapist as AG, and if Republicans don’t vote for him, Republicans are the reason trump didn’t get his AG pick, who is a child rapist.

  19. Proof is in the pudding. They’re probably angling for something. They’ll vote yes, if…

  20. We really only need 2, and if we get 2 he’s outta government! Whoooha!

  21. But he’s gonna give him some other great job right? Governor or something. (I’d love for him to be totally jobless, as he’s just resigned, which seemed preemptive.)

  22. Republicans who support Trump not supporting his picks.

    Welcome to the shit show!

  23. I would bet anyone any sum of money that he ends up AG. I cannot believe people haven’t yet learned that Republican senators are COWARDS.

  24. That would be the super majority that he’s not going to need. 😂

  25. So he’s gonna use the George Costanza excuse. Show up for work and say my resignation was a joke. You didn’t think I quit did you?

  26. If there is 5, I will be amazed. I would be even more amazed if Thune caves to trump and it came to a vote (recess appointment is 90% likely)

  27. Not going to happen ! The Head clown will tell them what to do and the Clown Bus will follow
