  1. > The Forrest Gump star, 69, shared in an interview with Fox News that his decision to take a break from his career in 2019 came down to the fact that his family were “in the cancer fight during that time.”

    > “Traveling away from the family wasn’t possible with what we were going through,” he told the outlet. “My wife [Moira Harris] had been diagnosed with breast cancer. My son was diagnosed with this very rare cancer you know, within two months of each other.”

    > However, those weren’t the only things the actor had to deal with at the time, as he told Fox News that his dad had also “just had a stroke” and he had to “take care” of his mom, who was “alone” at the time. He recalled, “I kind of had my hands full.”

  2. Why do the great people of the world always get dealt some tough cards.

  3. Still probably helped veterans like the GOAT he is

  4. Yet he has supported taking away healthcare from poor people his whole life…

  5. Gary Sinise is reddits favorite celebrity because he’s the only one that will regularly post on here and is a genuinely good person

  6. A great man and a great actor. Wishing him and family the best

  7. Wait, both wife **AND** son?! That sucks! I wish him all the best!

  8. Lieutenant Dan is very much an admirable human being… Gary is a shining example of love and compassion.

  9. The more I hear about Gary Sinise, the more I like him. And I’ve always enjoyed watching his stuff.

  10. Sad to hear, I wish him & his family the very best. He seems like an extremely good guy …

  11. He is fantastic but I always see him as a first draft Gary Oldman and Gary Oldman as the final draft. This is a compliment because if you are ever in Gary’s league you are special.

  12. I used to be her server at Nordstrom’s. Sweet lady. Gary was in a few times.

  13. Not trying be a dick, honestly, the opposite of that. I thought he had already stepped away from acting to support veterans. I thought Gary Sinese and the Lieutenant Dan Band and the veterans advocacy was his gig now.

  14. Ahhh, we’re frequenters at Steppenwolf, where he was in the ensemble. Actually going tomorrow. Poor thing. That’s a lot to put on two shoulders.

  15. I don’t agree with his politics but I believe him to be a principled man that abides by his morals. It’s awful they he’s gone through so much.
