  1. >The court heard Tariq had previous convictions for battery, robbery and sexual activity with a child.

    >Judge Bayliss told Tariq he will have to spend a minimum of nine years and 189 days behind bars before he is eligible for parole.

He should never have been allowed to see the sun again when he was done the first time. He’ll probably be out again in 10.

  2. This is one area where the UK could benefit from taking a leaf out of the USA handbook (albeit applied more sensibly) and apply a three-strikes rule. Three serious (notably sex, gbh, terrorism to name some examples) separate offences and you’re in for life. If an offender hasn’t changed their behaviour after three such offences they aren’t going to.

  3. Another fucking joke of a sentence. That man is an extreme danger to society and should never be freed.
Violent rape of a stranger should be a life sentence with no early release.

  4. I will forever say the UK sentencing for sexually based crimes is abysmal. It shows a lack of real understanding of the impact on victims but also the propensity to reoffend, especially in child predators.
The same goes for domestic abuse, making the rounds at the moment is my wife my abuser on netflix who got 4 years for 20 years of abuse.
But if she’d attacked a different victim everytime the sentence would have been harsher and longer, but somehow despite video evidence the sentence is so low compared to the harm inflicted.

    Make it make sense please.

  5. Why do some people want to try and degrade women so much. The motivation here is dark.

  6. We shouldn’t be talking about letting him out. He’s obviously a violent criminal who should be locked away for public safety.

There’s a couple of these reported every week. Violent people the public need to be kept safe from, and they keep letting them out.

  7. At 9pm?? Damn!

I think everyone who is doing this types of crimes or worse should be deported and if they are citizens should stay in jail for a long, long time ,at least 20 years.

  8. 50 years ago this would have been more than a ‘here today, gone tomorrow’ headline.

People would also have wondered ‘what sort of a name is Tariq, and what is one doing here?’; now it all is par for the course, much to our disgrace.

I make no especial claims to the quality of the British people, but women halfway around the world are astonishingly unlikely to be attacked in an alleyway, raped and then urinated upon by a Higginbottom or MacPherson.

Maybe with enough childhood exposure to ‘inclusive pedagogies’ and ‘native ways of knowing’, that will change.

  9. Why such a lenient sentence? If he robbed a business he’d get longer.
