Post Office scandal: MPs call for full postmaster compensation

  1. The tiny amounts they’re getting are frankly offensive.

I’m always amazed that these things don’t turn violent. If my life had been ruined for years because some middle manager didn’t want to admit his mistake and I got offered a few months wages the people responsible wouldn’t be safe…

  2. Not just that, the execs who **knew** about the problems should be charged. That includes not just the likes of Paula Vennells, but the execs at Fujitsu UK.

IIRC there is also the distinct possibility that charges of perverting the the course of justice over lying about external access could also be levied.

If no execs wind up behind bars, we’ll have another shining example of how justice in the UK doesn’t apply to the rich and well connected.

Not that we need any more after ABdP Johnson and his COVID parties.

  3. Obligatory shout out to Private Eye for covering this for years and years when basically the whole rest of the media and the government didn’t give a toss.

  4. This has been covered several times by the Radio 4 program File on 4. The latest episode covered this, a lot of people are barred from claiming full compensation because of an earlier settlement. The impact that the lies of the post office have had on people is horrible. One man committed suicide. What’s more it occurred months after a memo to the Post Office board about the problems.

Here are a couple of links for the most recent programs on this:
