Sladkov: “And how sad it is that many of our soldiers hide their faces, as if they are doing something shameful… They will tell their grandchildren: look, this is me, your grandfather. And the grandchildren will wonder: this is someone hiding their face, denying their involvement in the events…”

  1. >Russian mil reporter Sladkov: “And how sad it is that many [of our soldiers] hide [their faces] behind pieces of cloth, as if they are doing something shameful…ordinary guys… They will tell their grandchildren: look, this is me, your grandfather. And the grandchildren will wonder: this is someone hiding their face, denying their involvement in the events…”

    >There’s no need to overthink this, comrade Sladkov. Russian soldiers, on some subconscious level, know that they are participating in a mass crime. That’s why they hide their faces.

  2. This is a ridiculous sentiment. The modern technology of facial recognition means there is no such thing as an anonymous soldier among millions. Each and every face recorded involved in this war is being filed, identified, and stored for potential future action against the individual and their potentially their families.

  3. He needn’t worry, none of these guys are going to live to have grandchildren.
