Northern Ireland kept their UEFA Nations League promotion hopes alive with a 2-0 win over Belarus on Friday night.

Second-half goals from Dan Ballard and Dion Charles earned Michael O'Neill's side another crucial three points to stay top of League C3.

Ballard headed home Shea Charles' corner in the 50th minute, and Dion Charles converted a 63rd minute penalty after VAR confirmed a handball inside the box after Shea Charles' free-kick had struck the wall.

It was another spirited performance from Northern Ireland who had to break down a stubborn Belarusian defence in Belfast. And it was another clean sheet for young goalkeeper Pierce Charles.

Northern Ireland now sit two points clear of Bulgaria who beat Luxembourg 1-0 on Friday night.

Northern Ireland complete their Nations League campaign away to Luxembourg on Monday, while Belarus travel to Bulgaria.
