Visited The Lookout on Bishopsgate yesterday afternoon. No queue for security, plenty of space on the viewing floor, stunning views, and it's free. I got my ticket about 2 weeks in advance and there was plenty of availability for other dates. Would highly recommend.

  1. In defence of Horizon 22 I walked past it yesterday afternoon and got a walk in ticket, also 0 queues, was pretty empty

  2. You can also go to Aqua in the shard, there’s no entry fee, it’s got floor to ceiling windows, it’s just below the viewing platform and you can get a drink (albeit an expensive one)

  3. Hot take: the view of London’s skyline isn’t that impressive, standing somewhere beside the river Thames or on top of a hill eg. Greenwich or Primrose Hill provide the same level of enjoyment

  4. H22 is impossible?

I just went to their website, clicked book and it’s showing me today’s ticket for at least 6 adults. That’s when I stopped increasing the count btw.

  5. Horizon 22 (at Bishopsgate 22) and The Lookout (at Bishopsgate 8) are two separate free, very high viewing platforms, very close to each other. The Garden (120 Fenchurch Str) is another free platform, a bit lower than the others, but it’s open air, just surrounded by a glass fence.

  6. They should consider opening for Sunrise at this time of year.

  7. My opinion: the shard is up so high you can barely feel anything up there.
