  1. ‘He(Dewar) viewed it as a way for Scotland to gain a voice in decisions affecting its people while remaining part of the United Kingdom.’

So, after nearly 300 years of ‘union’ Donald Dewar recognised Scotland doesn’t have a voice.

Brexit shows us after devolution we only have a whisper, easily ignored.

Unlike other countries where if one region objects to part of a trade deal then it’s negotiated again.
Such as Wallonia, a region of Belgium objecting to Ceta.

Why are people happy Scotland is treated like a second class citizen?

  2. I met him once. Was at the first labour conference in Scotland after they won in 97 and he was not a nice man at all. Was an arrogant prima donna. Also met Robin Cook who was a very nice man. Chatted for a bit about university (I was at uni at the time) then he gave me a fiver for doing some photocopies for him and wouldn’t take no for an answer.

Dewar peacocked about like he was above everyone.

  3. Devolution means we still are subjected to going “cap in hand”. Regardless of what was devolved it’s still controlled by the whims englandshire mindsets.
