Very much a first world problem. But if I spent £4k on a hob, it had fucking better work with my pans. Of course, that’s something I’d check before having it installed.
How though? Is it induction? My Le Creuset works fine on induction.
So is this an induction hob and non-induction pans? Such an obvious thing to check.
I hope they at least went “Oh Smegging hell” when they realised
Sounds like you need to get your au pair to look after little Jocasta, hop in your Overfinch’ed Range Rover, and get your botty down to Habitat to speak to the manager.
I have no idea what any of this is, am I a peasant?
They should get a DivaDroid International Series 4000 Mechanoid instead
truly taking the smeg with that one…
The Guardian and The Times (or is it the Telegraph?) seem to be getting worse for this sort of vacuous rage baiting. I suppose it drives interactions on their social media platforms and gets eyeballs on adverts which is what they want.
Emma Beddington’s articles are by far the worst. Can’t believe she gets paid to write that shit.
If they can afford a 4k hob, they can afford some new pans.
Overpriced shit for cunts.
I would too to be fair.
Is there a r/compoface to go with this?
To be honest I’d be fuming too, Le Creuset is abhorrently expensive.
*Smegheads!!*
It is proper smegging infuriating, that though
Thought it said smeg nob
Fun fact, for about 5 quid you can buy a steel plate that you put on induction hobs which then let’s you use non induction pans.
But people like that don’t deserve useful information.
Have they tried asking Holly?
Competing with the “we’ve been forced to sell 60 buy-to-lets in Colchester” article we got last month as the most ridiculous piece of right wing journalism going.
I did not do my due diligence and now I am blaming someone else for it.
I bet they’re furious with someone else, not themselves for failing to check that it would work before purchasing it.
Ghastly!
Smeg cookers are hot garbage
Naaat. Can’t do it. Everytime I see the word ‘smeg’ my brain automatically reads it in Craig Charles scouse. This headline doesn’t fit
Clearly showing my class here but I don’t understand how brand interoperability has somehow defied the laws of thermodynamics. Hob gets hot – pan gets hot, right?
I like being middle class, it’s what everyone ought to be. Middle of the road, sensible, moderate. None of this snooty upper class nonsense, yet also none of this lower class crudeness. It’s good to be a Goldilocks.
Smeg needs to make their cooker hobs Le Creuset-compatible.
Just to add further twattery context, we owned a small cottage 10 years ago and could not install built-in equipment. We bought a Smeg (I guess it should be SMEG) washing machine, because my partner wanted it. It was over 50% more expensive than a nice Turkish made device but was really poorly engineered. Learning nothing from that experience, when we moved to a conventional house we bought a Smeg fridge, because, you know, and discovered that, it also was far less efficient, well made and quiet than an effing Hotpoint. Still, mustn’t grumble.

To save everyone looking this up themselves, yes, of course it’s the [Telegraph](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/money/consumer-affairs/4k-smeg-hob-not-work-le-creuset-pans-furious/)
I’m guessing they didn’t check that induction hobs don’t work with every pan? 🎻
It’s almost as if it’s written that way on purpose to wind people up.
But I doubt the Telegraph would ever do that
I checked and apparently it doesn’t heat evenly. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/money/consumer-affairs/4k-smeg-hob-not-work-le-creuset-pans-furious/
That shouldn’t really be an issue with cast iron
I hate smeg so much. That name. yurrgk
Can’t read that without thinking Red Dwarf
I just really like the phrase ‘smeg hob’
