Starmer is a puppet of Davos – he takes his orders from Schwab
Won’t somebody think of the poor farmers who have over £3 million in assets.
How will they cope?
Showing who has the money.
I don’t get why they were ever allowed to not pay IHT like the rest of us – this change has really just righted that wrong.
They need to stop giving Gareth Wyn Jones a spotlight.
Just a suggestion. Move the NFU building away from the DEFRA building, they are next door to each other. So lobbying is as simple as bumping into one another at Costa. Lobbying promotes bad practice in farming, ie extreme profiteering at all costs versus actually having land worth farming in the future. Farming needs to be sustainable. Helped and supported yes, but still sustainable. And that means not killing billions of bees by using pesticides that every EU country has banned.
Farmers have had it so good for decades. Find it hard to be on their side here
Big farmers? How big are we talking here? How do they fit in those little tractors?
If I’m understanding this right, they’re protesting because if the farm owner dies, and passes it to his children, and it fits the criteria, they have to pay inheritance tax.
So, this leads me to ask who’s protesting this? Surely older farmers can “dodge” the tax by simply passing it down before they die (the 7 year rule, now I know you can’t always predict your death but it’s a hard life farming). Or is some wealthy landowners who only bought it in the first place because it was a tax dodge (Clarkson and Dyson being a prominent 2).

They need to take lessons from the French!
