I believe that the best way for the war to end now is in the form of some peace where Russia retains what it has now, and Ukraine gets some really good protection from the West while formally not recognizing lost territories as Russian
Based on what I see and read, it seems that Trump might also viewed something like that as the most optimal option.
Tbh, I am not planning to go to war, and considering Zelensky’s latest words on why the frontline is on such a bad shape, which were received coldly among Ukrainians, there is no way our government will recognize that it screwed conscription and so any homework to fix any mistakes, so I just hope that the war ends soon.
Zelenskyy is playing trumpy hard. I don’t know why USA can’t see that the P-elect is a raging narc, but Zelenskyy seems to understand that kind well.

President Zelensky needs to say this, and I think he’s worked out that the only way to deal with Trump is through flattery & fluffing, but I really, really hope that he doesn’t believe it. Might be time for Europe to start utilizing the remainder of Russia’s assets as loan collateral. Trump actually might be willing to sell Ukraine US gear using Russian money as collateral.
Europe probably doesn’t need to explain to him exactly how the loan works, tbh. Trump doesn’t even understand how tariffs work.
I can not wait for Zelensky’s tell-all autobiography after all of this shit! He has pulled so many rabbits out hats & pivoted & then repivoted to make sure his country has some for of support (albeit never enough) all the while western leaders are not understanding that if Ukraine ever falls, Putin won’t stop…
I look forward to the day that Zelensky is able to tell his story about the real conversations with politicians and talk about how he had to flatter & smooch up to leaders to get some of what Ukraine needed.

Zelensky might be telling the truth, the other US administration was vocal with fine words + praise but lackluster in their ability to give and supply arms on time. Trump is a wildcard and that is what Ukraine needs right now. I think Putin even was telling the truth when he prefered Biden over Trump, as the Democratic administration, once more, was both predictable + timid in their response to Russia.
Zelensky has certainly earned his page in the history books. Wonder how our incoming president would handle a multi-year invasion.
Sadly I think he’s playing the “lick his boots bc he’s a proud, boastful idiot”. A far cry from other american incumbents, that would keep arms flowing to defeat its sworn adversary. What a time to be alive…
