One of my strongest opinions in climate change is that the uk should not necessarily prepare solely for climate changes physical effects (ie coastal planning/management).
The UK needs to be prepared to be utter bastards in the event of climate migration. Its an unpopular opinion but we need to be prepared for our own sake. Better than the mayors preparing to take them in.
We are going to see people move from our own coast inland too. I’m already planning to do so as I do not think my home town is going to look as it does now in twenty or thirty years. Add on millions who may try to reach the UK over the next decade, as Africa and parts of Asia become much harder to live in, it could be a disaster that we are powerless to stop.
It’s more likely the adaption of modern mechanised farming that’s driving many to cities from rural areas if they can no longer sustain even a meagre income off the land. Small holdings become abandoned and urban based environmentalists thinks it’s solely to do with climate change.
The dribble of boats across the channel is absolutely nothing compared to what’s coming when the topics and subtopics empty and billions of people are displaced.

Considering the science of climate change is not in the least bit fully understood, I’d take this to be just another labour mayor looking for some more money.
P.s. this doofbag is my city’s mayor and he’s already wasted £40m of our council taxes on a failed energy company, closed all the toilets, numerous libraries etc etc.
I doubt we can be cold hearted enough. Can see half the country fighting against cruel measures, even if it’ll lead the the country downfall.
Literally no reason to flood to the cities. What are people gonna do? Self service check outs, ai customer service, call centers in India, a dying high street..The so called unskilled jobs are been phased out. Doesn’t he mean everyone will be moving to shanty towns around the amazon fulfilment centres?
Build a massive wall that surrounds all of the UK. Double points for keeping the sea out as it rises.

Why are we buying incredible amounts of goods from countries with the worst pollution output? Our output is insignificant compared to the worst offenders, if they don’t change, our efforts are worthless.
I hope this happens and then some foreign agent launches (non-nuclear) ballistic missiles at London, perhaps Bristol and Birmingham, Manchester too, making sure to totally level the cities. And then the foreign agent collapses so no more missiles and no invasion. But somehow the SDP survive and they get in to government.
