i don’t blame her for taking the money. even in a civil case, the way victims are treated in court is disgusting and inhuman. knowing that this woman went through so much as a very young girl being trafficked, i can’t say i wouldn’t do the same. no doubt her lawyers would have advised that if it went to trial, she would have had to relive a lot of graphic experiences for the public, whereas this guarantees her a payout (which is all she would get in a civil case anyway) and she can move on without being dragged through it again. and she’ll never get any real justice from epstein. i’ll never blame victims for taking monetary compensation, because in the majority of cases it’s the only kind of justice they’ll get and, while it might not erase that trauma, it certainly goes a long way in starting the healing process.

I feel that Reddit can contribute to the jubilee by making a point of reminding the royals about the settlement and Virginia. Maybe make a jubilee spitting image puppet of Andrew, which he seemed very fond of.

Civil cases and settlements for certain accusations should be outlawed. The man was accused of a crime and should be made to stand trial. There should be no financial element to it. She said that she wouldn’t accept a financial settlement unless he admitted guilt – he has not and now has paid to make it go away. A trial by jury is what should’ve happened here but neither party wanted that because in her case, a lack of evidence meant she couldn’t prove beyond reasonable doubt that it did happen and from his point of view, (if his TV interview was anything to go by), a prosecuting lawyer would have a field day causing more embarrassment to the Royal family. However, we cannot live in a world where a) a woman can simply accuse someone and ruin their lives and image forever without needing to prove it or b) a rich person can simply pay to make a potential crime they committed go away.
Can’t have anything ruining the big party for our overlords.
Imagine paying 12 mil for a temporary gagging clause just for the Queens Jubilee. Also if there was any wonder whether the Queen gave 2 shits about this country the fact she helped pay for this to avoid spoiling her jubilee should emphasis where she wants tax payer money going.
