Austria’s Ralf Rangnick previews a decisive clash with Slovenia in the Nations League, emphasizing Austria’s form, Slovenia’s counterattacking style, and his belief in the squad’s depth.
Austria heads into the final Nations League match with their fate firmly in their own hands. Sitting atop the group with 10 points and a superior goal difference compared to Norway, Austria needs a strong result in their final match against Slovenia, which will take place at a sold-out Ernst Happel Stadium.
Ralf Rangnick’s team had a disappointing result in September when they managed only a 1-1 draw against Slovenia in Ljubljana. However, the Austrian coach is excited about the upcoming encounter and expects Slovenia to stick to their well-organized, counterattacking style.
“We are looking forward to playing in front of a sold-out stadium. Slovenia plays compact football and relies on counterattacks. But we’ve won our recent home matches and done so in inspiring fashion,” said Rangnick.
While Austria is dealing with the absence of several players, Rangnick remains unfazed. The team is expected to have veteran striker Marko Arnautović available for the crucial fixture.
“I have never doubted the quality of this team. We have depth in the squad, so we can compensate for any absences,” Rangnick added confidently.
