  4. Wait in until his first meeting when they tell him he is actually in charge of the American nuclear weapons program, the navy nuclear reactor program, super computer complexes, various mission science, and nuclear waste clean up. Not ‘drill, baby, drill’…..these people are so stupid.

  7. The curious thing is that Dept. of Energy has very little to do with the fossil fuel sector.

    It mainly manages the nuclear weapons arsenal, cleanup at former nuclear sites, the US physics labs and grants to other investigators studying fission, fusion, or green energy, and with the IRA, grants to green energy projects that will continue, as many are in GOP districts. I imagine about 2% of the budget goes to fossil fuel related work, like funding the Energy Information Agency’s industry reports.

    This doofus is going to be a fifth wheel. Had he wanted to benefit the fossil fuel industry, they would have put him at Dept. of the Interior. BLM is the agency that does mineral leases and drilling permits.
